A tribute by Peggy Noonan on Blessed Pope John Paul II

He is beatified because of his holy life, a model to us all.

However, Peggy Noonan is not talking in the mystical sense about the man, but in an earthly, political sense. The political acumen of Pope John Paul II was legendary and real. I think it was a combination of a man who had experience much and was able to connect in a unique way. This was combined with an incredible trust in God which gave him a courage not often seen, and a capacity to do good in a way that will be forever remembered.
